Project Details:
The homeowners had several goals for their home in Ashley Woods near Asheville. One, the house is located on a steep slope and they wanted more usable space in both their front and backyards. Two, they wanted permanent slope retention for low maintenance and plenty of flat surfaces. And finally, they wanted an in-ground pool and hot tub.
Our crew began work with extensive demolition of existing landscape features, including old rotten wood retaining walls, a deck and existing concrete. We then regraded the site and brought in 300 tons of Tennessee stone to construct 4 large boulder retaining walls.
Drainage and water issues were then resolved by proper grading and installation of catch basins and new gutter lines. We then constructed large flagstone patio areas to entertain guests as well as flagstone walkways and boulder steps to negotiate slopes.
To complete this project, we mulched all planting areas and installed 8,500 square feet of turf-type tall Fescue sod.
